New Jersey Music Festivals 2026: Full Date List by Month

July 29, 2026 · 4 min read

Twenty-one listings in this directory carry the music category, and they run from April 11 to September 27. Eight of them list free admission. They cover six of the state's seven regions, with one clean gap: no listing in the Delaware River region carries the music category at all, so the western edge of the state is the one place this calendar cannot send you.

The set splits into three shapes: dedicated music festivals, city festivals where music is the spine, and county fairs with a stage. All three are below in date order, because the practical question is usually which weekend, not which genre.

Spring: Cape May sets up camp for six weeks

Atlantic City Beer & Music Festival opens the calendar on April 11 with food and live music.

Cape May Music Festival then runs May 9 through June 21, six weeks, the longest date range in this entire directory. Live music is its only listed feature, so read it as a concert series spread across a season rather than a single-site festival weekend.

May 15 to 17 is the spring peak. Cape May Exit Zero Jazz Festival and the New Jersey Seafood Festival in Belmar run the exact same three days at opposite ends of the shoreline, one ticketed jazz weekend and one free festival with crafts, food and live music. Two days later, Hoboken Spring Arts & Music Festival takes May 17 with free admission, crafts, food, live music and kids activities.

June: Newark for two weeks, Wildwood for four days

North to Shore Festival runs June 13 to 28 in Newark, sixteen days, listed as music, cultural and family with food, live music and kids activities. It is the longest multi-day music event in the Gateway region on this calendar.

Inside that window, Barefoot Country Music Fest runs June 18 to 21 in Wildwood, four days on the sand and the only country music festival on this calendar.

L.E.A.D. Fest State Fair in West Windsor bridges June into July, June 26 to July 5, with fireworks, rides, food, live music and kids activities.

July: a Fourth of July beach festival and a blues weekend

Long Branch Oceanfest runs July 4 itself, free, with fireworks, food, live music and kids activities. It is the only listing in the directory dated exactly on Independence Day.

New Jersey State BBQ Championship & Anglesea Blues Festival follows July 10 to 12 in North Wildwood, pairing a judged barbecue competition with a blues bill.

Summer in the Street takes July 18 in Toms River, one free day with food, live music and kids activities. Late July then hands the stages over to the fairs: Warren County Farmers' Fair runs July 25 to August 1 and the New Jersey State Fair and Sussex County Farm & Horse Show opens July 31, both carrying the music category alongside agriculture.

August 15: two jazz festivals on the same Saturday

This is the scheduling fact worth knowing before you plan an August weekend. Montclair Jazz Festival Downtown Jamboree & Block Party in Essex County and Morristown Jazz & Blues Festival in Morris County both run on August 15, in neighboring counties, and they are the only two jazz-named events on the calendar outside Cape May.

The listings differ in one useful way. Morristown carries free admission, food and live music. Montclair carries food, live music and kids activities, with no free admission flag, so check its ticketing before you go.

Around them, two county fairs carry the music category through the first half of the month: Middlesex County Fair August 3 to 9 in East Brunswick, and Passaic County Fair August 13 to 16 in Woodland Park, the latter free with fireworks and rides.

The month closes with New Jersey Folk Festival on August 29 in South Brunswick, a single free day listed as music, cultural and craft, with crafts, food, live music and kids activities. It is the only folk-categorized event in the directory.

September: Asbury Park, and a crowded September 19

Sea.Hear.Now Festival runs September 19 and 20 in Asbury Park, listed as music and family with food and live music. It is one of only two multi-day beachfront music weekends here, the other being Barefoot in June, and it is the later of the pair by three months.

September 19 is crowded well beyond Asbury Park. All About Downtown Street Fair in Jersey City runs free that day with crafts, food, live music and kids activities, two Ocean County food festivals run the same day, and the Bergen County 4-H Fair is mid-run. If you are choosing, Sea.Hear.Now is the destination weekend and Jersey City is the free walkable alternative.

The music calendar closes with Irish Fall Festival in North Wildwood, September 25 to 27, listed as cultural, music and food festival, with crafts, food, live music and a parade.

Free live music, and where to find it

Eight of the twenty-one music listings carry free admission: the New Jersey Seafood Festival, Hoboken Spring Arts & Music, Long Branch Oceanfest, Summer in the Street in Toms River, Passaic County Fair, Morristown Jazz & Blues, New Jersey Folk Festival and All About Downtown in Jersey City.

The pattern is worth naming. Free live music in New Jersey clusters in two places, downtown street festivals and county fairs, while the ticketed music weekends concentrate on the shore between Cape May and Asbury Park. Six of the eight free listings are single-day events, so they are decisions you make the same week rather than trips you book.

Lineups, set times and ticket prices are not part of our records. Confirm those with each festival directly before booking travel.
