An Italian-American feast is a community festival organized around a Catholic patron saint's day, traditionally with a religious procession through the streets alongside food stands, music, games and often rides and fireworks. Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Festival in Hammonton followed this format. Its organizing society describes it as the longest-running Italian festival in the country, a tradition since 1875. Feast week was listed for July 13 to 18 (unconfirmed), and the feast day was listed with a Mass, a procession through Hammonton and fireworks after dark. Admission was free.
